The Experience

Oldest House Belgrade

Look, I'll be honest – when I first heard the name "Oldest House Belgrade," I rolled my eyes a bit.

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name “Oldest House Belgrade,” I rolled my eyes a bit. Hotels love throwing around superlatives, you know? But walking up to this place on Cara Dušana street, you actually feel like you’re stepping into something with real history. The building sits right in the heart of Stari Grad, and I mean literally in the thick of it – you’re maybe a three-minute walk from Skadarlija (that’s the bohemian quarter everyone talks about) and even closer to Kralja Petra street where all the good cafes are.

What struck me most was how they’ve managed to keep this authentic, lived-in feeling without making it feel like a museum. The rooms have this warm, slightly worn-around-the-edges charm that actually works – wooden floors that creak just enough to remind you you’re in an old building, but comfortable beds and modern bathrooms where it counts. The staff here really knows their stuff too, which honestly makes such a difference. When I asked about getting to Nikola Tesla Airport early in the morning, the guy at reception didn’t just tell me to grab a taxi – he explained the whole mini-bus situation and even wrote down the schedule in Serbian so I could show the driver. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake.

The location is pretty spectacular if you’re the type who likes to explore on foot. You’re literally surrounded by Belgrade’s best stuff – Kalemegdan Fortress is maybe a ten-minute stroll, and you can easily walk down to the Danube waterfront when the weather’s nice. Parking can be a bit tricky around here (it’s old-town Belgrade, what do you expect?), but there’s a small lot nearby and the hotel can usually sort something out if you ask ahead. One thing I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, despite being so central. I mean, you’ll hear some street noise – it’s a living, breathing neighborhood – but nothing that kept me awake. The 8.3 rating feels about right to me. It’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it delivers on character and location in a way that feels genuine rather than manufactured. If you’re looking for a pool and room service, this probably isn’t your place. But if you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Belgrade rather than just visiting it, well, this is exactly what you’re looking for.

What could be improved: Keine Handtücher vorhanden, wir haben aber selbst welche dabei.

What could be improved: 厨房设施偏拥挤。 室内清洁需要改进得更好。

the location is great... if you want simple place to stay it's good.
don't expect too much.
the house has everything you need but it's very simple and not quite clean
Goren housekeeper let me stay early check in la check out... that was great

What could be improved: the house is on the main road and if you are a quite person it's a bit problematic
‏the curters on the windows are white and transparent, you will wake up early just with a sunlight.
Goren was rude with his behaviour...I don't even want to say what he said..😏

The accommodation is:
- super central
- very authentic old house and some good furniture lovely maintained
- the host (Andres) ist very friendly and cooperative when it comes to arranging payments
- there is a tram in front of the house but I could hardly hear it at night. Despite being central and on top of a Pizzeria, it’s very quite

What could be improved: For me, it was perfect in a sense that it was very authentic in a sense that it feels a local person would actually live there. However, it did absolutely not look like as on the picture. It’s more modest. For me was ok but some people might not like it.

Comfortable bed, quite a big room. Good location. Great wi-fi. Nice and attentive host that quickly responded whenever I needed something

What could be improved: The apartment would have been a lot nicer if they got rid of some of the useless clutter

The neighborhood was nice.

What could be improved: The flat hadn't been cleaned, the toiletbowl was dirty, the sink was dirty, the shower was dirty and had some kind of mold or damage from moisture. There was a moldy fruit-juice sitting in the fridge, there was something that looked like a cloak-room but the doors were screwed shut, overall the place didn't look at all like the pictures...

The kicker is that the host didn't care about these issues, when I asked for a remedy he just called me a "stickler" and after that exchange I gave up on trying to get any service.
