It’s tucked away on this quiet side street in Stari Grad – Rige od Fere – which honestly I’d never heard of before, but it’s actually perfect. You’re right in the heart of old Belgrade without dealing with the chaos of the main pedestrian zones. Mine had this gorgeous hardwood flooring that creaked just slightly when you walked barefoot in the morning, and the kitchen was stocked with proper dishes, not plastic hotel nonsense. What I loved most was the bathroom – marble everywhere, and the shower pressure was incredible, which honestly can be hit or miss in Belgrade’s older buildings. The whole place smelled faintly of cedar and something else I couldn’t quite place… maybe lavender?

Here’s the thing that really sold me on this place: the staff actually knows the neighborhood. When I asked about dinner recommendations, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a tourist brochure – he drew me a little map showing which entrance to use for this tiny restaurant around the corner that doesn’t even have a proper sign. And parking, which can be a nightmare in Stari Grad, was sorted without drama. They’ve got their own spots, which feels like a small miracle when you see everyone else circling the blocks looking for street parking. The location is sort of genius actually – you’re close enough to walk to the fortress, the bohemian quarter, all the galleries and cafes, but far enough from the weekend party crowds that spill out of the clubs near the Danube. I stayed there in late September and the whole area had this lovely end-of-summer vibe, with people sitting outside the neighborhood kafanas until pretty late, but it never felt rowdy or loud. That 9.6 rating makes total sense to me – it’s the kind of place that gets the details right without making a big show of it.
