You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to the Tesla on Krunska Street – the building looks pretty understated from the outside, honestly. But step inside and it’s a completely different story. The lobby has this sleek, modern vibe that somehow doesn’t feel cold or corporate, which is harder to pull off than you’d think. The staff actually seemed genuinely happy to see guests, not just going through the motions.
The location is what really sold me on this place, though. Vračar is one of those neighborhoods that feels properly Belgrade – you’re walking distance from Cvetni Trg (the flower market is worth getting up early for, by the way), and Saint Sava Temple is literally a ten-minute stroll away. I mean, you can see the dome from some of the upper floor windows. What I loved is that you’re close enough to the action on Knez Mihailova Street when you want it, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the weekend chaos and street musicians until 2 AM. The tram stops right nearby too, which makes getting around the city dead simple.
The rooms themselves are well thought out – not huge, but they use the space smartly. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are modern without being sterile. Here’s something small but important: the windows have proper blackout curtains, so you can sleep in if you want. The Wi-Fi works everywhere, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong. I stayed during a busy summer weekend and barely heard any noise from other guests or the street, which tells me they didn’t cut corners on soundproofing. The air conditioning works properly too – again, sounds obvious but Belgrade summers can be brutal.
What really impressed me was how the hotel feels connected to the neighborhood rather than dropped into it. The front desk staff knew which kafanas nearby were worth trying (go to Tri Šešira if they recommend it, trust me), and they had actual useful suggestions for getting around the city. The breakfast spread was solid – nothing fancy, but good local bread, proper coffee, and they actually had kajmak, which shows they’re paying attention to what people want. Check-in was smooth even though I arrived pretty late, and they sorted out a restaurant reservation for me without making it feel like a big favor.
Is it perfect? Well, the elevator is a bit slow, and if you’re on the street side you might catch some early morning delivery trucks. But honestly, for a 4-star place in this part of Belgrade, it hits way above its weight. The 8.1 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in the city, but it gets the important stuff right and the location is genuinely excellent. If you want to feel like you’re staying in Belgrade rather than just passing through, this is a solid choice.
