Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Belgrade, and Apartman Tara honestly surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Проте Матеје in Vračar – you know, that leafy residential area that feels like actual Belgrade rather than tourist Belgrade. The building itself is one of those solid pre-war structures that just has character, and apartment 6 sits up high enough that you get this nice sense of being above the street bustle without feeling disconnected from the neighborhood.

What really got me was how thoughtfully everything was set up inside. I mean, you can tell someone who actually travels put this place together, not just someone trying to maximize rental income. The kitchen has proper coffee gear (thank god, because Serbian coffee culture is serious business), and there’s this little balcony space where I ended up spending way more time than expected, just watching the tree-lined street come alive in the mornings. The whole apartment feels lived-in rather than sterile – comfortable furniture that’s actually comfortable, not just Instagram-pretty. Honestly, the 9.6 rating makes sense once you’re there; it’s those small details that add up, like having enough electrical outlets where you actually need them and blackout curtains that work properly.

The Vračar location is really the secret sauce here though. You’re maybe a fifteen-minute walk to Slavija Square, which connects you to everything, but you’re on this quiet residential street where the biggest noise is usually kids playing in the courtyard below. There’s a great little bakery two blocks down on Kralja Milana – I grabbed burek there most mornings – and you’re close enough to Temple of Saint Sava that you can wander over without making it a whole expedition. Parking can be a bit of a dance like anywhere in central Belgrade, but the street parking actually works if you know the rhythm of when people leave for work. The building entrance feels secure without being fortress-like, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no weird key pickup locations or confusing instructions, just practical stuff that works. If you’re looking for that sweet spot between being in Belgrade proper and having a quiet place to decompress after long days of exploring, this apartment really delivers on that balance.
