You know what struck me first about Simma Luxury Apartments? The location is absolutely perfect – I mean, you’re literally on Terazije, which is pretty much the beating heart of Belgrade. The old pedestrian zone, Knez Mihailova Street, is basically around the corner, and you’ll find yourself stumbling onto it without even trying.

The place itself feels more like staying in a really well-appointed friend’s apartment than a typical hotel – which actually makes sense given the name. The rooms have this modern-meets-comfortable vibe that works really well, and I appreciated little touches like actually decent coffee setup (not those tiny packets you get most places) and proper blackout curtains that actually block the street lights. Speaking of street noise, yeah, you’re in the center of a major city, so there’s some ambient sound, but it never felt overwhelming – the windows are solid, and honestly, the energy of being right in the mix is part of the charm. The staff was genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions, and they knew the neighborhood inside and out. When I asked about finding a good rakija bar that wasn’t touristy, they pointed me toward this little spot on Skadarlija that I never would’ve found otherwise.

What really sells this place for me is that 9.4 rating – and having stayed there, I get it. It’s one of those spots where everything just works without being flashy about it. The building has character (you’re in Belgrade’s old town, after all), but the renovations are thoughtful and modern. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the internet actually worked properly, which honestly can’t be taken for granted everywhere. If you’re planning to explore Belgrade properly – and I mean really explore, not just hit the main tourist spots – Simma puts you right where you want to be. You can walk to the fortress when the mood strikes, duck into those amazing little kafanas for coffee and people-watching, or head down toward the Danube without needing to figure out transport. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because leaving feels like giving up the perfect home base.
