Apartments Terazije

You know what struck me first about Apartments Terazije? The address says Balkanska 8, but honestly, you’re right in the heart of everything that matters in Belgrade. I mean, Terazije Square is literally around the corner – that’s the Times Square of Belgrade, if you will, minus the crazy tourist traps and plus way better coffee.

The building itself has this solid, old-world Belgrade vibe that I actually love. It’s not trying to be some flashy boutique place, but the apartments are genuinely well-maintained and spacious. The kind of space where you can actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it for a week. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays inside, considering you’re practically on top of Knez Mihailova pedestrian street – that’s Belgrade’s main shopping drag where everyone and their grandmother goes to see and be seen. The windows must be pretty decent because I barely heard the evening crowds, and trust me, Belgrade knows how to party.

The location thing is sort of incredible when you think about it. You can walk to the fortress in about ten minutes (uphill, fair warning), hit the bohemian quarter of Skadarlija for dinner, or just wander down to the Danube when you need to clear your head. There’s this little bakery called Hleb & Kifle maybe two blocks away that does these amazing burek pastries – locals line up there every morning, which is always a good sign. Parking can be tricky in this area, but honestly, you won’t need a car much once you’re settled in. The trams and buses run constantly, and most of what you want to see is walkable anyway.

What I appreciated most was how the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood. Not just the obvious tourist spots, but where to grab groceries at decent prices, which kafanas serve authentic Serbian food versus the tourist versions, that sort of thing. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no weird upselling or artificial friendliness, just efficient and helpful. The apartments themselves feel more like staying in a friend’s place than a hotel room, which some people love and others might find less… I don’t know, less pampered? But there’s something honest about it that works, especially in a city like Belgrade where the real charm is in wandering around and discovering things rather than being waited on hand and foot.
