But sometimes those slightly off-the-beaten-path spots turn out to be absolute gems, and this place definitely falls into that category. The moment you walk through the doors, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details here. The lobby has this warm, understated elegance that feels more like stepping into a well-appointed friend’s home than a typical hotel. And honestly, with a 9.8 rating, I was curious if it could possibly live up to the hype – spoiler alert: it absolutely does.

What really struck me about NIKLUK is how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between professional service and genuine hospitality. The staff actually remembers your name after day one (not just reading it off a screen), and they seem to know Belgrade inside and out – like, they’ll tell you which bakery on nearby Ustanička has the best burek, or warn you that traffic gets brutal on Bulevar Oslobođenja during rush hour. The rooms themselves are immaculate without feeling sterile, if that makes sense. Everything works perfectly – the WiFi is actually fast, the shower pressure is strong, and the beds are that perfect firmness where you sink in just enough. I particularly loved the blackout curtains because, let’s be real, Belgrade nightlife can run pretty late and sometimes you need to sleep in without the morning sun blasting you awake.

The location is actually brilliant once you understand Belgrade a bit better. Sure, you’re not stumbling distance from Skadarlija or the fortress, but you’re in a real neighborhood where locals live and work. There’s a fantastic little market just a few blocks down where you can grab fresh produce and local specialties, and the public transport connections are solid – you can get to the city center in about 20 minutes without dealing with the chaos and expense of staying right in the thick of things. Plus, parking is way easier here than anywhere near Knez Mihailova, which anyone who’s driven in Belgrade will tell you is worth its weight in gold. What impressed me most, though, was how quiet it stays at night despite being on a main street – their windows must be seriously well-insulated. After a long day exploring the city or dealing with business meetings, coming back to NIKLUK felt like a genuine retreat. It’s one of those places where the 4-star rating feels almost conservative – they’re delivering an experience that rivals much pricier hotels in more touristy areas, just with more authenticity and less pretense.
