Apartment Unamare

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first climbed up to the third floor of this building on Bilećka – honestly, the entrance doesn’t scream “luxury apartment” or anything. But once you get inside Apartment Unamare, it’s like stepping into someone’s really well-designed home, not a typical Belgrade rental.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Belgrade at all. Voždovac might not be the flashiest neighborhood, but that’s exactly why it works. You’re far enough from the tourist crowds in Stari Grad that you can actually hear yourself think, but close enough that a quick bus ride gets you to Knez Mihailova when you want that city buzz. The building itself sits on a quiet residential street – I mean, you’ll hear the occasional car or neighbor, but nothing like the constant hum you get closer to the center. What really surprised me was how thoughtfully everything’s set up inside. The owner clearly lives here sometimes (or at least used to) because there are all these little touches that only happen when someone actually uses a space. Proper coffee setup, decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and – this might sound weird – but the shower pressure is incredible. You’d be amazed how rare that is in older Belgrade buildings.

I spent a good chunk of time just hanging out on the balcony in the evenings, watching the neighborhood wind down. There’s something oddly peaceful about being in a real residential area where people are just… living their lives. The nearby streets have these little shops and cafés that locals actually use, not the tourist-trap places you find elsewhere. If you need groceries or want to grab a beer, everything’s walkable, but you’re not dealing with crowds or inflated prices. The apartment itself feels spacious in a way that’s hard to find in Belgrade – I mean, you can actually spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that awkward key-handoff dance you sometimes get with private rentals. The whole experience just felt… easy, I guess? Like staying at a friend’s place who happens to have really good taste and knows how to make guests comfortable. That 9.8 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just genuinely well-done.
