And honestly, after bouncing between generic accommodations across the Balkans, that was exactly what I needed. The building sits right on Vojvode Stepe – which, if you’re not familiar with Belgrade, is this tree-lined street in Voždovac that’s got character without being touristy. It’s actually one of those neighborhoods where you’ll hear more Serbian than English, which I mean, gives you that authentic local vibe you can’t fake.

The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious for what you’d expect in Belgrade. I’m talking about room to actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it for a week. The kitchen – and this is where it gets good – is properly equipped. Not just a mini-fridge and a prayer, but actual cookware if you want to hit the local market and make something. The bed situation is solid too, and coming from someone who’s picky about mattresses, that’s saying something. What really impressed me though was how quiet it stays at night. Voždovac isn’t exactly the party district, so you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around at 3 AM. The windows face away from the main road noise, which honestly, whoever designed this place was thinking ahead.

Getting around from here is where the location really shines – you’re about fifteen minutes by tram to the city center, and there’s a stop practically at your doorstep. The 9 and 10 lines run frequently enough that you won’t be checking your watch constantly. Plus, if you’re one of those people who likes to walk (and Belgrade is definitely a walking city), Kalemegdan Park is totally doable on foot, maybe thirty minutes if you take your time. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel with local bakeries and that corner market where the owner actually remembers your face after day two. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving – street parking is hit or miss, but there are spots if you’re patient. The 9.9 rating honestly makes sense when you stay here because it’s those little things: the wifi that actually works, the shower with decent water pressure, the fact that check-in was smooth even when I showed up later than planned. It’s not trying to be fancy, but it nails the basics so well that you end up feeling more rested than you expected.
