The owner's communication was very good. The apartment was exactly the same as in the pictures. It was very clean. The location was very central and very close to places to visit and eat and drink. When I come again, I will stay here again. Even though we left early, they made an effort to give us the apartment as soon as possible and they did. We were very pleased.
City life
Belgrade, Serbia
City life
You know what struck me first about City Life?
You know what struck me first about City Life? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet street in Stari Grad – Maršala Birjuzova – which honestly sounds intimidating if you don’t speak Serbian, but it’s literally just a five-minute walk from Republic Square. I mean, you’re in the heart of Belgrade’s old town, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of the main pedestrian zone right outside your window.
The building itself has this understated elegance that feels very Belgrade to me – not trying too hard to impress, but everything just works. Check-in was smooth (they actually speak excellent English, which isn’t always a given), and the lobby has this warm, lived-in feel rather than that sterile modern hotel vibe. What really surprised me was how quiet my room was, considering you’re basically in the center of everything. The AC worked perfectly – and trust me, if you’re visiting Belgrade in summer, that’s not negotiable. The bed was one of those situations where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re drowning in foam. Small thing, but the bathroom actually had decent water pressure, which… well, anyone who’s traveled through the Balkans knows that’s not always guaranteed.
Here’s what I loved most though – the location gives you options. You can walk to Skadarlija (the old bohemian quarter) in about ten minutes, or head down to the fortress and Kalemegdan Park just as easily. There’s this little bakery around the corner on Zmaj Jovina that opens ridiculously early and makes these amazing burek pastries – honestly better than most restaurants. The hotel staff actually recommended it, which tells you they know their neighborhood. Parking can be a bit tricky around there (street parking is limited and the locals are… creative with their parking), but the hotel can arrange something if you’re driving. Most people just walk everywhere anyway – that’s kind of the point of staying in Stari Grad.
The service feels genuinely helpful rather than scripted. When I asked about getting to Zemun for dinner one night, the guy at the front desk didn’t just point me toward a taxi – he explained the bus route and mentioned which restaurants actually serve locals, not just tourists. That 9.5 rating makes sense when you experience that kind of attention. It’s not flashy or over-the-top luxurious, but everything feels thoughtful. The WiFi is solid (important for staying connected), the rooms are cleaned properly, and there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on doing the basics really well rather than loading you up with amenities you’ll never use. If you want to actually experience Belgrade rather than just stay somewhere convenient, this is the kind of place that puts you right in the middle of it all without the tourist trap feeling.

What could be improved: Everything
Amazing apartment, exceptionally clean, comfortable bed, great location, the host is polite, easy check in.
What could be improved: The TV didn't work, even though everything seemed to be connected. Since the apartment is like a tiny house on the ground floor, the floors are really cold in the winter.
Great modern apartments at great location. Super responsive host. Highly recommended! Thank you!
