What really got me was the attention to small details that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere. The lighting is warm enough that you don’t feel like you’re in a hospital, there’s proper counter space in the kitchen – seriously, why do so many places skimp on that – and the bed situation is actually comfortable for sleeping, not just looking pretty in photos.

Location-wise, this is where it gets interesting. Cetinjska puts you right in the sweet spot where you can walk to all the main Stari Grad attractions – Kalemegdan Fortress is literally a ten-minute stroll – but you’re not dealing with the constant noise and chaos of Skadarlija where all the tour groups end up. I loved that I could grab morning coffee at one of those tiny local places around the corner (there’s this spot that does proper Turkish coffee, no English menu but the owner’s friendly), then wander over to the fortress or down toward the Danube without feeling like I was following a guidebook trail. The neighborhood actually quiets down at night too, which – let me tell you – is not something you can count on everywhere in Belgrade’s old town. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving, but honestly, you probably don’t need a car from here anyway. The whole area is walkable, and when you want to explore beyond Stari Grad, taxis are easy to flag down.

What really sealed it for me was how the whole experience felt authentic without being rough around the edges. You get that genuine Belgrade neighborhood feeling – hearing Serbian conversations from the courtyard, smelling whatever delicious thing someone’s cooking nearby – but with all the modern comforts that make a stay actually relaxing. The 9.5 rating makes sense when you’re there; it’s one of those places where everything just works the way it should, which sounds simple but is surprisingly rare. If you want to feel like you’re experiencing Belgrade rather than just visiting it, this spot gets it right.
