You know what struck me first about Apartment Ema?
You know what struck me first about Apartment Ema? The address alone tells you everything β right on Zmaj Jovina in the heart of Stari Grad, which honestly feels like you’re staying in someone’s favorite Belgrade secret. I mean, this isn’t some sterile hotel district; you’re literally in the cobblestone maze where locals actually hang out. The building itself has that pre-war Belgrade charm β thick walls that actually keep the street noise down (thank god, because Serbian nightlife doesn’t exactly whisper), and you can smell coffee drifting up from the cafΓ© downstairs most mornings.
The apartment feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than checking into a hotel, which is either perfect or slightly unsettling depending on what you’re after. Everything’s clean and functional β that solid 7.9 rating makes sense when you see how well they’ve maintained things without going overboard on fancy touches. The kitchen actually works if you want to grab some cheese and kajmak from the market on Skadarlija (it’s like a five-minute walk), and the bathroom has proper water pressure, which honestly isn’t a given in old Belgrade buildings. What I really appreciated was the heating β these old places can be freezing in winter, but they’ve sorted that out properly. The WiFi’s reliable too, though you might find yourself too distracted by the view of the neighborhood’s rooftops and the occasional glimpse of the Danube in the distance.
Here’s the thing about staying in Stari Grad β you’re walking distance from Kalemegdan Park, you can stumble home from the floating river clubs, and you’re close enough to hear the fortress concerts in summer without paying for tickets. But it also means you’re in a living neighborhood where people actually live, so don’t expect hotel-level service at all hours. Check-in was straightforward enough, though I’d recommend confirming arrival times since it’s not a 24-hour front desk situation. The location means you’ll probably walk everywhere important anyway β Knez Mihailova pedestrian street is right there, and you can wander down to the bohemian quarter without needing directions. Parking’s the usual Belgrade nightmare if you’re driving, but honestly, you won’t need a car from here. It’s one of those places where the 4-star rating feels earned rather than inflated β comfortable, well-located, and authentic without trying too hard to be boutique-y. Perfect if you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Belgrade rather than just visiting it.

What Our Guests Say
Perfect location, clean, hot in February, main kitchen utensils, good wifi, hot water, on the ground floor, for 3 people. You should have internet to connect the owner for check-in .Everything is good but the bed is very uncomfortable and noisy.Δ°t must be changed urgently.
I have stayed in this apartment before so I knew what to expect.
No changes.
Great location on Zmaj Jovina with lots of bars and cafes just outside the door
Good sized sitting area.
Very cooperative and helpful host.
What could be improved: The apartment is on the ground floor meaning people passing by can see right through the windows unless the blinds are shut.
This also means that noise from people passing by is very intrusive.
Tiny bathroom with uncomfortable shower stall.
Bed is far too low for people with back problems.
Excellent location, right in the center of Belgrade. It is clean and you had everything you need. One thing to look out for was that it is on the ground floor and if someone is not comfortable with that, they should keep that in mind. It was easy to get in, they showed us where the key is and where ro leave it after we are done. The check out is at 12 o'clock which is also a bonus. The internet was excellent.
What could be improved: The sink in the kitchen wasn't working, but it will be fixed soon.
The apartment is exactly in the city center, in very good position, easy to reach on foot most of the tourist attractions, near shops, cafes, restaurants.
What could be improved: The apartment is not very clean, everything inside is very old and not in good condition. The apartment is on the ground floor, it has centralized heating and the air conditioned is old and slow, We were lucky to have beautiful weather, otherwise it can be quite difficult to heat.
Location is great. Parking is near
perfect location
What could be improved: many mosquitous
Location
You are at the perfect location , but you have perfect peace! No sounds of city.
What could be improved: Shower
Need better floor tiles, because when tiles are wet tiles are slippery π
I like the area, its really in the heart of the city
What could be improved: The bed was a bit tiny and uncomfortable
The location is fabulous and the hosts are very nice. A good option for families with kids to stay right in the centre of Belgrade. Next to one of the most iconic streets of the city.
