You know what struck me first about Alex LUX? It’s tucked away on Kosovska Street in a way that makes you feel like you stumbled onto something the crowds haven’t figured out yet. I mean, you’re literally in Stari Grad – the old town – but somehow it doesn’t feel touristy at all. The building itself has this understated elegance that’s very Belgrade, if that makes sense. Not flashy, just… confident.
The thing about staying here is you’re maybe a five-minute walk from Skadarlija (that’s the bohemian quarter everyone raves about), but you’re also close enough to Knez Mihailova that you can easily duck into the pedestrian zone for shopping or just people-watching. What I really loved though – and this is something you don’t realize until you’re actually staying somewhere – is how quiet it gets at night. Kosovska isn’t one of those streets with late-night traffic, so you actually sleep well. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean lines, good lighting, decent bathroom pressure. Nothing revolutionary, but honestly, sometimes you just want a place that does the basics really well.
Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked: the staff actually knows the neighborhood. I asked about finding a good kafana that wasn’t a tourist trap, and the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic list – he asked what kind of atmosphere I was looking for and gave me three specific recommendations with actual directions. That’s… not something you get everywhere, honestly. Also, if you’re coming by car, there’s street parking but it can be tricky during the day (typical for this part of Belgrade), though they’ll help you figure it out. The whole area comes alive in the evening in this wonderful way – you’ll hear music drifting from courtyards, smell food from family restaurants, see locals meeting up for their evening walks. It’s got that 8.8 rating for a reason, and I’d say it’s earned. Not because everything is perfect, but because it gets the important stuff right and feels authentic to the city you’re actually visiting.

It had everything we need, close to perfect location, clean place. Excellent bathroom. We had a car, parking was couple of minutes away. Nice cafe, a pastry shop, and a small supermarket just underneath the apartment. Great kitchen, although we didn’t use it, it had everything.
We really enjoyed staying in this place.

Velik i prostran stan. Ljubazan domacin. Wifi odlican. Odlicna lokacija.
What could be improved: Nalazi se na veoma bucnoj lokaciji, iako je nova stolarija i dalje se cuje buka. Ovo je isključivo moj dojam jer sam naviknut na bas mirne lokacije. Kreveti su poprilično kratki, i posteljina ima neki cudan miris.

What could be improved: Everything was honestly great about it!
The property was really good and exactly like the pictures. It is a large apartment with comfortable mattresses. One full bathroom and one small bathroom with toilet and a sink. Nice shades on the windows to sleep in if you are used to the central noises of the city , it was okay for us. There is a minibar menu if you are in need for a snack or wine, definitely a nice touch. 5 Minute walk to Knez Mihailova , the best thing was the location.
What could be improved: We weren’t going to write about the negatives, however the owners mother i believe to be, came to pick up the payment before checking out. 5/10 minutes before checking when we paid her we said we would need a few more minutes as we were a larger group ( 6 to be precise, and needed time for everyone to get ready in the bathroom ) . The cleaner, or the owners mother said that would be okay and she would be back. Some minute goes by after we politely asked for at MAX 10 minutes past check out to leave the apartment tidy and make sure we don’t leave anything. We understand sometimes that can be a trouble for the next guests but at the same time we took those 10 minutes to make sure the apartment was much easier to clean and make sure we dont forget anything… While we were picking up stuff, the cleaner, i believe to be the owners mother,just entered the apartment and sat in the dining room and awkwardly watched us. I am a host myself and I would always leave a bit of time if guests need to bring the apartment to its original shape, and I wouldn’t certainly allow my cleaner to enter while they were still inside after they POLITELY asked… Nevertheless we left as we stated that we just needed a few minutes. Bathrooms could be cleaner since there were many hairs both, that we were going to mention to the lady if she didn’t barge in so impolitely……
Location, parking nearby, clean
The location is great. The apartment is huge and convinient. Its fully equipped for nice stay. Helpful host.
What could be improved: A little bit dusty on table and other surfaces, it was not clean enough.
There is hot water only in the bathroom, and cold in toilet and kitchen.
The bed linen sets are old and shabby - new ones needed. The bedrooms are little bit noisy at nights, because they faced to a big street. The window blinds were not working nice, they need to fix them. There was a huge light advertising accross the street and in the night in the room was too bright.
It will be perfect if there is a welcome bottle of water and a few coffee and tea bags.
The gests will appreciated if there is a luggage room for later check-outs.
