You know what caught me off guard about XENIA1? I was expecting another generic Belgrade hotel, but this place actually has some character tucked away on Gospodar Jovanova. The street itself is pretty quiet for Stari Grad – you’re literally in the heart of the old town but somehow the tourist chaos feels muted here. When I first walked up, the building looked understated, almost like they weren’t trying too hard to impress anyone, which honestly made me like it more.
The thing about staying here is you’re maybe three minutes from Skadarlija (the cobblestone restaurant strip everyone talks about), but you can actually sleep at night because you’re just far enough removed from the weekend madness. I mean, if you want to stumble back from dinner at Zlatni Bokal or Tri Šešira, you can – but you won’t have drunk tourists singing under your window at 2 AM. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place, nothing revolutionary but they’ve clearly put thought into the details. Good water pressure, which matters more than people admit, and the AC actually works properly during those brutal Belgrade summers.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out. The guy at reception didn’t just point me toward Republic Square like most hotels do – he told me about the little bookshop on Kralja Petra where they serve coffee, and mentioned that the farmers market on Saturdays is worth hitting up early. These aren’t things you find in guidebooks, you know? Plus, parking around here can be absolutely brutal (anyone who’s driven in Belgrade knows), but they sorted that out without the usual runaround. The breakfast was surprisingly decent too – not just the standard hotel spread, but they had some local touches that felt genuine rather than performative. Look, it’s not going to change your life or anything, but for exploring Belgrade’s old town without dealing with the typical tourist hotel experience, XENIA1 gets it right in ways that matter when you’re actually living there for a few days.

Lokacija je odlična. Ambijent je prijatan i moderan. Vlasnica je bila vrlo komunikativna. Ko želi kratak boravak u centru grada slobodno neka izabere ovaj apartman.

Izvrsna lokacija, svi sadržaji u neposrednoj blizini,apartman super opremljen. Trgovina koja radi 24 h, par metara od apartmana.

Great central location, just steps from the main attractions. Well-equipped, clean and spacious apartment. Great spacious shower and always hot water. Quite a comfortable bed. Large television. Very good Wi-Fi. Supermarket practically attached very convenient.
What could be improved: Very noisy. Basement apartment with window overlooking the street from which the interior is partially visible. Little privacy. Height of the windows difficult to reach. Air conditioning working but difficult to adjust. Communication on where to find the keys provided once you arrive at the apartment (if the phone is dead how do you get in?)
