You know what caught me off guard about Villa Boho Cherga? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – it’s got this laid-back, artistic vibe that feels refreshingly different from the typical Belgrade hotel scene. I mean, Rakovica isn’t exactly where most tourists end up, but that’s honestly part of its charm. You’re about 20 minutes from the city center, which sounds far until you realize you’re paying half what you’d spend near Knez Mihailova, and the neighborhood has this authentic, lived-in feel that tourist areas just don’t have.

The location on Prve radio stanice is pretty quiet – mostly residential with tree-lined streets that actually make for nice evening walks. I was worried about being stuck in the middle of nowhere, but there’s a decent bakery two blocks down (the burek is legit), and you can catch public transport into town without much hassle. The hotel itself sits in what looks like a converted villa, and they’ve done something interesting with the interiors – sort of bohemian meets modern, with lots of warm wood, vintage textiles, and these quirky art pieces that don’t feel forced or Instagram-staged. The rooms are spacious by European standards, and honestly, the beds are way more comfortable than I expected for a 4-star place.

What really impressed me was how the staff seemed to actually know Belgrade, not just the tourist highlights. When I asked about dinner recommendations, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic list – he asked what I was in the mood for and suggested this amazing Serbian restaurant about ten minutes away that I never would’ve found on my own. The 8.7 rating feels about right, maybe even conservative. Sure, it’s not luxury – the bathroom fixtures are nice but not fancy, and the WiFi can be spotty in some corners of the building – but there’s something genuinely welcoming about the place. They’ve got this small courtyard area where guests actually hang out in the evenings, which is rare. Most hotels, people just disappear into their rooms. The breakfast spread is solid too, with local cheeses and proper coffee, not the watery stuff you get at chain hotels. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to experience Belgrade more like a local and less like a tourist checking boxes.
