Natalie’s Apartment

You know what caught me off guard about Natalie’s Apartment? The location is honestly perfect, but not in that obvious touristy way. It’s right on Kraljice Natalije street in Savski Venac, which – if you don’t know Belgrade – puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to the main action but far enough to actually get some sleep at night. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute stroll from Knez Mihailova (the main pedestrian zone everyone talks about), but the street itself is surprisingly quiet. The building has that classic Belgrade architecture thing going on – you know, solid and a bit stern from the outside, but there’s character there if you look for it.

What really makes this place work is that Natalie (or whoever’s running it) actually gets what travelers need. The apartment itself feels lived-in rather than sterile – there’s decent coffee in the kitchen (thank god, because Serbian coffee culture is serious business), the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the shower has proper water pressure. Small things, but honestly, these are the details that make or break a stay. The furnishings aren’t trying too hard to be trendy, just comfortable and functional. I particularly appreciated that the windows actually block out light when you need to sleep in – you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong.

The neighborhood really grew on me during my stay. There’s this little bakery maybe two blocks away that does incredible burek (get the cheese one, trust me), and you’re close enough to Savamala that you can wander over for dinner without it being a whole production. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving – street parking is hit or miss, and you’ll want to ask about the rules because Belgrade’s parking situation has its own logic. But honestly, once you’re settled in, you probably won’t need a car much. The tram connections are decent, and a lot of what you’ll want to see is walkable. What struck me most was how the 9.3 rating actually makes sense – it’s not perfect (the elevator is one of those tiny European ones that makes you question your packing choices), but it delivers on what matters. You get a clean, comfortable space in a genuinely good location without paying tourist-trap prices. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
