Radisson RED Belgrade

So I’ve stayed at the Radisson RED Belgrade a handful of times now, and honestly, it’s become my go-to spot in the city. The location on Takovska Street is actually pretty brilliant – you’re right in Palilula, which sounds fancy but is really just this great mixed neighborhood where you’ll find both locals grabbing coffee and tourists trying to figure out their maps. I mean, you can walk to Republic Square in about fifteen minutes, but you’re far enough away that you won’t hear the weekend chaos from the pedestrian zone.

The hotel itself has this whole industrial-chic thing going on that actually works. When you walk in, there’s this lobby that feels more like a trendy coworking space than a traditional hotel – lots of red accents (obviously), exposed brick, and these massive windows that let in tons of light. The staff behind the front desk are genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions. I remember checking in late one evening after a delayed flight, and the guy at reception actually drew me a little map showing the best route to avoid the construction on Makedonska Street. Small thing, but you know what I mean.

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place, but with better attention to detail than most. The beds are actually comfortable – not just “hotel comfortable” – and the shower pressure is fantastic, which matters more than people admit. There’s this big window in most rooms that gives you a decent view of the neighborhood, and if you’re lucky enough to get a higher floor, you can see toward the Danube on a clear day. The air conditioning works properly too, which is crucial during Belgrade’s sticky summers. One thing though – the walls aren’t super thick, so if you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs just in case your neighbors are having a good time.

What really sets this place apart is how it sits in the neighborhood. There’s a fantastic bakery called Hleb & Kifle literally around the corner where locals line up every morning for fresh burek, and you’ll find some of Belgrade’s best kafanas within walking distance. The hotel restaurant is decent enough for breakfast (their Serbian coffee is legit), but honestly, you’d be crazy not to explore what’s right outside your door. The area comes alive in the evenings too – not touristy nightlife, but real Belgrade energy with people spilling out of bars and restaurants along the nearby streets.

Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving, but there’s a garage about two blocks away that won’t break the bank. The whole area is well-connected by public transport too, so getting to Skadarlija or the fortress is pretty straightforward. I’ve recommended this place to several friends visiting Belgrade, and they’ve all had similar experiences – it just feels like you’re staying somewhere that gets the city right, if that makes sense. For the price point and the 8.9 rating it’s earned, the Radisson RED delivers on being a proper Belgrade experience rather than just a place to sleep.
