Pro tip: if you’re a light sleeper, just mention it when you check in. The staff actually listens and will sort you out.

What really sets this place apart is how the staff treats you like a person rather than a room number. The front desk folks – there’s this one guy, Marko, who genuinely knows the city inside and out. Not the rehearsed recommendations you usually get, but actual insights like which kafana has live music on Tuesday nights or where to find the best burek at 2 AM (crucial information, trust me). The rooms themselves hit that sweet spot between comfortable and practical. Nothing flashy, but the beds are properly comfortable, the bathroom has decent water pressure, and there’s enough space to actually unpack if you’re staying more than a night or two. The WiFi works everywhere, which – let’s be honest – isn’t always a given in Belgrade hotels.

I stayed there during both summer and a chilly March visit, and the climate control actually works, which might sound basic but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong. The breakfast is solid too – not a huge spread, but fresh bread, good coffee (important!), and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re there for several days. Plus, they don’t rush you out if you want to linger over your coffee and plan your day.

What I really appreciate is that Hotel Royal Inn feels authentically Belgrade without trying to be something it’s not. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or rooftop bars you’ll never use – you’re paying for a genuinely comfortable base in one of the city’s most interesting neighborhoods.
