You know what struck me first about Princ Apartment? It’s tucked right into this gorgeous cobblestone stretch of Vuka Karadžića, and I mean right in the heart of Stari Grad where you can actually feel Belgrade’s old soul. The building itself has that pre-war charm – solid walls, high ceilings, the kind of place where you half expect to hear jazz drifting from a neighbor’s window (and sometimes you actually do).

The apartment itself is honestly better than most four-star places I’ve stayed in – everything’s been updated but they kept the character intact. The floors have this beautiful parquet that creaks just enough to feel authentic without being annoying, and the windows are these massive things that flood the space with light during the day. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, which is sort of miraculous considering you’re maybe a three-minute walk from Skadarlija’s restaurant chaos. The WiFi actually works properly too, which… well, anyone who’s traveled through the Balkans knows that’s not always a given. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no standing around a marble lobby waiting for someone to acknowledge your existence.

Here’s what makes this spot special though: you’re literally surrounded by the stuff that makes Belgrade worth visiting, but you’re not drowning in tourist crowds. Walk five minutes toward the Danube and you’ll hit Kalemegdan Park where locals bring their kids to feed the swans, or head the other way and you’re wandering through these tiny streets where old Serbian grandmothers still hang laundry between buildings. The Bohemian Quarter is close enough that you can stumble home after too much rakija, but far enough that you won’t have drunk college kids singing under your window at 2 AM. There’s this little bakery – I think it’s called Hleb i Kifle – maybe two blocks away where you can grab fresh burek for breakfast, and honestly, that’s going to be better than whatever continental breakfast most hotels would serve you anyway. Parking can be tricky (this is old Belgrade, after all), but there’s usually street parking if you’re patient, and the nearby garage isn’t too expensive. The 8.9 rating makes sense – it’s the kind of place where everything just works without trying too hard to impress you with fancy nonsense you don’t actually need.
