It’s tucked into one of those charming Belgrade streets where the buildings have character and you can actually feel the history around you.

What really struck me about Pop’s is how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between feeling like a local apartment and having all the touches you want when you’re traveling. The owner (I’m assuming Pop himself, though I never confirmed this) clearly gets what travelers actually need. The apartments feel lived-in but spotless, if that makes sense – like staying at your most organized friend’s place. You know what I mean? Not sterile like some hotels, but not cluttered either. The kitchen setups are actually functional too, which honestly surprised me since most apartment-hotels give you this sad little kitchenette that’s more decorative than useful.

You’re maybe a five-minute walk from Skadarlija (that’s the bohemian quarter with all the traditional restaurants), and the fortress is close enough that you’ll probably end up there for sunset at least once. I loved that you could walk to most of the good stuff – the pedestrian zone, decent coffee shops, those little bakeries where locals actually go. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area, but honestly, that’s Belgrade for you, and you probably won’t need a car much anyway.

The noise level was surprisingly manageable too, considering you’re in the city center. Sure, you’ll hear some street life, but it’s not the kind of thing that keeps you up unless you’re an incredibly light sleeper. Actually, I found the gentle hum of the neighborhood kind of comforting – felt more authentic than being stuck in some isolated hotel bubble. The check-in process was smooth, none of that awkward waiting around in a lobby situation, and they were pretty flexible about timing which is always appreciated when you’re dealing with travel delays.

What really sets Pop’s apart is those little details that show someone’s actually thought about the guest experience. Good water pressure, reliable WiFi, proper blackout curtains – the stuff that matters when you’re trying to settle in somewhere for a few days. The whole setup feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in a rental, which I mean as the highest compliment. Four stars feels about right for the official rating, but the experience honestly punches above that.
