You know what?

You know what? I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Belgrade, but Peti honestly caught me off guard. It’s tucked away on Solunska Street in Stari Grad, and I mean really tucked away – you could walk past it if you weren’t paying attention. But that’s actually part of its charm. The whole area feels like the Belgrade that locals don’t want tourists to discover yet, with those narrow cobblestone streets and the kind of cafes where old men play chess until midnight.

The hotel itself is smaller than you’d expect for a 4-star place, maybe 20 rooms tops, which explains why it feels more like staying at a well-connected friend’s place than some corporate chain. The staff – and I’m talking about the same three people who seem to run everything – they actually remember your name by day two. The guy at reception (Marko, I think?) knows every single restaurant within walking distance and will steer you away from the tourist traps without you even asking. My room faced the courtyard, which was perfect because Solunska can get a bit noisy with delivery trucks in the early morning, but honestly, even the street-facing rooms aren’t that bad since it’s not a main thoroughfare.

What really got me was the attention to details you don’t usually notice until they’re missing elsewhere. The shower pressure was incredible – I mean, actually wake-you-up-in-the-morning incredible. The linens felt expensive, and they had this subtle lavender scent that wasn’t overwhelming. There’s no gym or pool or any of that stuff, but there’s a tiny terrace on the third floor where you can have coffee and actually see a slice of the Danube if you crane your neck just right. The breakfast is simple but done right – local cheeses, fresh bread from somewhere nearby, and coffee that’s strong enough to prepare you for a day of exploring Belgrade’s hills. They don’t do dinner, but honestly, you’re a five-minute walk from some of the best restaurants in the city. Tri Šešira is practically around the corner, and if you head toward Skadarlija, you’ll find more traditional Serbian food than you can handle. The location is perfect for wandering – you can walk to Kalemegdan Fortress in about fifteen minutes, or head down to the bohemian quarter and lose yourself in the winding streets. After dark, you’re close enough to the nightlife but far enough away that you can actually sleep. I stayed there in September when the weather was perfect for walking, and I can’t imagine a better base for exploring the old town. The 9.8 rating makes total sense once you realize what they’re going for – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, just really, really good at being a comfortable, authentic Belgrade experience.

Flexible host, waiting for us late as flight was delayed. Good spacious apartment, good for family with two kids. Good neighbourhood, close to city centre and going out area.

What could be improved: No remarks except the central heating was working too good :)

We travel a lot and stay in many apartments. I always look for the following: A well resourced kitchen, good strong shower, comfortable temperature (air con), good communication from host. This apartment had all of this. The host was extremely accommodating, giving us lots of ideas about our stay in Belgrade. and the information in the apartment about what to do in Belgrade was really helpful too. Location is good. We walked everywhere. 10 minutes to fortress, 15 minutes to Republic square.

Good big apartment in the city center. It has a big kitchen and three clean rooms. In my opinion that is one of the best choices in the city.

The apartment is comfy and has a great view. Exactly as you see in the pictures. Tanja is a great host. She is kind and very helpful.

What could be improved: Just a little far from the center. (20 min by walk) and finding a taxi in the city can be difficult.
