Morning Wood – Panorama

You know what really struck me about Morning Wood – Panorama? The name might make you do a double-take, but honestly, once you’re standing on that terrace looking out over the Danube, you get it. The sunrise views are absolutely ridiculous in the best way possible. I stayed here last spring and – I mean, I’ve seen a lot of hotel sunrises, but this one actually made me set an alarm just to catch it again.

The location on Jurija Gagarina is pretty smart, actually. You’re in Novi Beograd, which some people write off as just concrete blocks, but they’re missing the point. Sure, it’s not cobblestone old town vibes, but you’re literally minutes from the city center via the bridge, and there’s something refreshing about having space to breathe. Plus – and this is the thing nobody tells you – parking here is actually manageable, unlike trying to navigate a car through Stari Grad where you’ll spend half your vacation looking for a spot. The tram stop is right there too, so you can ditch the car entirely if you want to explore downtown properly.

What really sells this place though is how they’ve nailed the details without making a big show of it. The rooms are clean and modern without being sterile – you know that bland hotel chain feeling where everything’s beige and soulless? Not here. The beds are properly comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms actually have decent water pressure, which honestly can’t be taken for granted in Belgrade. The staff seems to genuinely know the neighborhood too – when I asked about dinner spots, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a tourist brochure, he told me about this little kafana two blocks away where locals actually eat. Found out later it’s been there for decades, tucked away where you’d never stumble across it on your own. The breakfast spread is solid – nothing fancy, but proper Serbian cheese and bread, decent coffee, and they don’t rush you out. I actually ended up lingering there most mornings, planning my day while watching the city wake up through those big windows. That 9.6 rating makes sense when you add it all up – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in Belgrade, but everything just works the way it should.
