ForS Belgrade Waterfront

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in Belgrade over the years, and ForS Belgrade Waterfront honestly caught me off guard – in the best way possible. When you first walk up to this place on Bulevar Vudroa Vilsona, you’re immediately struck by how different this whole waterfront area feels from the rest of the city. I mean, five years ago this was basically industrial wasteland, and now it’s got this sleek, almost Miami-like vibe that somehow works in Serbia’s capital.

The hotel itself sits right in the heart of what locals are calling “New Belgrade” (though that’s confusing since there’s already a municipality called New Belgrade – you know how these things go). What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to feel upscale without being stuffy. The lobby has these floor-to-ceiling windows that look out toward the Sava River, and honestly, the natural light is incredible – especially in the late afternoon when the sun hits the water just right. My room was on the seventh floor, and I could actually see across to Kalemegdan Fortress in the distance, which never gets old no matter how many times you’ve been to Belgrade.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before booking: the area can get pretty busy on weekends, especially during summer when everyone’s out on the promenade. But that’s actually part of the charm – you’re walking distance from some genuinely good restaurants (there’s this seafood place called Mezestoran Dvorište that’s worth the short walk), and the whole waterfront strip comes alive at night. The hotel staff seemed to really know their stuff too – when I mentioned I was trying to get to Skadarlija, the guy at reception didn’t just give me directions, he actually called me a taxi and told the driver which route to take to avoid the construction on Knez Mihailova. Those little touches matter when you’re dealing with Belgrade traffic, trust me.

The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid four-star place – clean, modern, good Wi-Fi that actually works (which isn’t always a given in this part of the world). I particularly liked that they’d thought about practical stuff: plenty of outlets near the bed, a decent-sized desk if you need to work, and the air conditioning was quiet enough that I could sleep with it running. The bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually has good pressure – you’d be surprised how often hotels mess that up.

What really sets this place apart, though, is the location itself. You’re literally a ten-minute walk from the old town, but you feel like you’re in a completely different city. It’s perfect if you want to experience both sides of Belgrade – the historic charm and this newer, more cosmopolitan energy. Plus, if you’re into morning runs or evening walks, the waterfront path is right there, and it stretches for kilometers along the river. Just don’t expect it to be quiet – Belgraders love their outdoor socializing, and the whole area buzzes with conversation and music well into the night. For me, that energy was exactly what made the stay memorable.
