This whole area feels like Belgrade’s ambitious answer to modern European waterfronts, and while some locals are still making up their minds about the development, I have to say the hotel itself really delivers on the promise.

The location on Hercegovačka puts you right in the heart of this new district, which means you’re basically a five-minute walk from the Sava riverbank. I mean, you can literally see the water from some rooms, and there’s something pretty magical about watching the sunset paint the river gold while the old fortress looms across the way. The neighborhood has this interesting mix of ultra-modern glass towers and construction cranes (fair warning – there’s still building happening around here), but it doesn’t feel sterile like some of these new developments can. You’ve got the Galerija shopping center practically next door, which is handy for grabbing essentials or escaping the heat, and the whole promenade along the river becomes this lovely evening hangout spot where families stroll and couples share benches.

What really impressed me was how the hotel manages to feel both polished and genuinely welcoming – that 9.1 rating isn’t just marketing fluff. The staff actually seems to know Belgrade well enough to give you real recommendations, not just the obvious tourist spots. They pointed me toward this little kafana tucked away in Dorćol that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms are spacious by European standards, and I appreciated details like the blackout curtains that actually work (crucial when you’re dealing with jet lag) and bathroom fixtures that don’t require an engineering degree to operate. Getting around from here is surprisingly easy once you figure out the rhythm. You’re not in the pedestrian zone of Knez Mihailova, sure, but the walk to the old town is actually pretty pleasant along the river, maybe fifteen minutes if you’re not in a hurry. Taxis are cheap and plentiful, and there’s decent public transport connections, though honestly I found myself walking more than I expected just because the riverfront path is so pleasant. The area gets lively in the evenings – not rowdy, but there’s definitely energy as people come down to walk and the restaurants start filling up.
