Belgrade Waterfront Lux

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Belgrade, and honestly? Belgrade Waterfront Lux caught me off guard. When I first walked into the lobby, I thought “okay, this is nice” – but it wasn’t until I got to my room and opened those floor-to-ceiling windows that I really got it. The view across the Sava River is something else, especially around sunset when the whole sky turns this incredible orange-pink color that reflects off the water. You know what’s funny? I actually spent more time just sitting by the window than I did exploring the city on my first day there.

The location is pretty brilliant if you think about it – you’re right in the heart of this whole new development area, which means everything feels fresh and modern, but you’re still only a ten-minute walk from Knez Mihailova Street where all the action is. I mean, you could easily stroll to Kalemegdan Fortress, and there’s this great little coffee shop called Brew Lab just around the corner on Karađorđeva that the hotel staff actually recommended (locals love it too). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – the waterfront area doesn’t have that typical Belgrade street noise, so you can actually sleep with the windows cracked open and just hear the gentle sound of the river. The staff seemed genuinely happy to be there, which isn’t always the case at four-star places, and they knew their stuff about the neighborhood. Check-in was smooth, and they even held my bags for a few hours after checkout so I could grab lunch at one of the restaurants down by the water.

The rooms themselves – well, they’re exactly what you’d want after a long day of walking around Belgrade’s cobblestone streets. Everything works (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case), the shower pressure is actually decent, and the beds are properly comfortable. I stayed there during shoulder season in late April, and while it wasn’t packed, I could tell this place gets busy during summer months when everyone wants to be near the water. The only thing that bugged me slightly was the elevator – it’s a bit slow when you’re rushing to catch the sunset from the rooftop area. But honestly, that’s me being picky. What really sold me on this place was the breakfast – they had this incredible selection of local cheeses and pastries alongside the usual international stuff, and the coffee was strong enough to wake the dead (which, after a night exploring Belgrade’s famous nightlife, you’ll definitely need). If you’re looking for somewhere that feels both sophisticated and authentically Belgrade, without being stuck in some tourist bubble, this is your spot.
