Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Apartment Arena Silver on Antifašističke borbe street, I wasn’t expecting much. The name sounds a bit corporate, and well, it’s in Novi Beograd which some people write off as just concrete blocks and business districts. But you know what? I was completely wrong about this place.

The location is actually brilliant if you understand Belgrade at all. You’re right in the heart of New Belgrade – which means you can walk to the Sava riverfront in about ten minutes, and those evening strolls along the water are honestly magical. The Arena shopping center is practically next door (hence the name, I guess), so you’ve got everything from decent coffee shops to proper grocery stores without needing to figure out Belgrade’s public transport on day one. And here’s something most visitors don’t realize – you’re actually closer to some of the best floating river clubs than if you stayed in the old city center. The taxi drivers know exactly where Antifašističke borbe is, which saves you that awkward phone conversation trying to explain your location.

What really surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, despite being in what’s essentially Belgrade’s business district. The apartment itself – and these are proper apartments, not just hotel rooms with a kitchenette slapped in – feels like someone actually lives there. The beds are comfortable (I’m picky about this), the shower has decent pressure, and there’s real counter space in the kitchen if you want to grab some kajmak and ajvar from the market and make yourself breakfast. The Wi-Fi works properly, which honestly isn’t always a given in Belgrade. I mean, the place has earned its 4 stars and that 8.9 rating didn’t come from nowhere – you can tell they actually maintain things instead of just letting stuff slide. The check-in was smooth too, no waiting around or confusion about keys.

One thing I really appreciated – and this might sound small but it matters when you’re tired – the elevator works reliably and the hallways don’t smell like cigarettes or cleaning products. You know how some places try to mask problems with overwhelming air fresheners? Not here. The whole building just feels… clean and well-run. Plus, if you’re visiting during summer, the air conditioning actually cools the place down, which is more than I can say for some fancier hotels I’ve stayed at in the Balkans. The only minor thing is that grocery delivery can be a bit tricky to coordinate since it’s an apartment building, but honestly, with shops so close by, you probably won’t need to bother with that anyway. If you want to experience Belgrade without dealing with the tourist crowds in Skadarlija but still have easy access to everything – including those late-night river parties the city’s famous for – this is your spot.
