When I first walked up to number 26, I wasn’t expecting much from the street view, but these Serbian buildings have this way of surprising you once you get inside.

The apartment itself is really well put together, and I can see why it’s pulling those high ratings. What I love is that it feels like someone’s actual home rather than one of those sterile hotel rooms where everything’s bolted down. The owner clearly knows what travelers need – there’s proper counter space in the kitchen (you’d be amazed how many places skip this), decent water pressure, and honestly the bed situation is solid. I slept really well, which isn’t always a given when you’re staying somewhere new. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after evening hours too, so you’re not dealing with street noise all night. During the day though, you’ve got this nice hum of local life happening around you – people heading to the nearby shops, that sort of authentic Belgrade rhythm.

Here’s the thing that really sold me on this place: you can walk to Knez Mihailova in about ten minutes, but you’re far enough away that you feel like you’re living in the real Belgrade, not just visiting it. There’s a little bakery practically around the corner that does these amazing burek pastries – I’m talking proper local spot, not tourist prices. And if you need groceries or whatever, there’s actually decent shopping within a few blocks. Parking can be a bit of an adventure in this part of town (welcome to Belgrade, right?), but the location more than makes up for it. I found myself just wandering the old streets in the evening, stumbling across those tiny kafanas and getting a real feel for how the city breathes. The check-in was smooth too – no awkward key exchanges or confusing instructions, just straightforward and friendly. Look, it’s not luxury in the marble-lobby sense, but it’s that kind of comfortable, authentic experience that makes you feel like you actually experienced a place rather than just passed through it.
