You know what really got me about Aleksei Apartmani? It’s right there on Trg Branka Radičevića – basically Zemun’s main square – but somehow it feels like this perfectly kept secret. I mean, you’re literally steps from all the action, but once you’re up on that second floor, it’s surprisingly quiet. The whole setup just works.

Zemun itself is honestly one of those neighborhoods that makes Belgrade special. It’s got this old Austro-Hungarian vibe that’s completely different from the rest of the city, and staying right on the square means you’re in the thick of it without the tourist circus you’d get in Skadarlija. The apartments themselves are properly done – not that generic hotel chain stuff, but actually thoughtful. I loved that they didn’t try to cram too much into the space; everything feels intentional, from the kitchen setup (which is actually usable, not just for show) to the way the windows frame the square below. The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s polished and comfortable without being stuffy about it.

What really sold me was the little details that show someone who actually lives here designed this place. The shower pressure is excellent – trust me, that matters after walking around Belgrade all day. There’s proper blackout curtains (the square can get lively in the evenings, which is part of the charm, but you’ll want to sleep eventually). And honestly, the whole check-in process was refreshingly straightforward. The location gives you the best of both worlds – you can walk down to the Danube waterfront in about five minutes when you want that riverside café scene, or hop on a bus to central Belgrade when you’re ready for the big city energy. I actually preferred staying here to being right in the center because Zemun has its own personality, plus you avoid some of the noise and crowds. The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s one of those places that just gets the basics really, really right, then adds enough character to make it memorable. Perfect for people who want to feel like they’re staying somewhere with a story, not just passing through.
