Well, this place sits right in the heart of it on Trg Branka Radičevića, which honestly sounds intimidating to pronounce but is actually this charming little square where locals still gather for coffee like it’s 1920.
The suites themselves are… well, they’re not trying too hard, if you know what I mean. Sometimes “luxury” places go overboard with gold everything and marble that makes you feel like you’re in a bank lobby, but Akacija gets it right. The rooms are spacious (actually spacious, not “European spacious”), and there’s this attention to detail that you notice gradually – like how the bathroom lighting doesn’t make you look like a zombie at 6 AM, or how the beds are positioned so you wake up to natural light instead of staring at a wall. The kitchenettes are properly equipped too, which matters when you want to grab fresh produce from the nearby market and not eat out every single meal.
What really sells this place though is the location – I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Danube waterfront where half of Belgrade goes to decompress on weekends. The Gardoš Tower is right there if you’re into that whole panoramic city view thing (and honestly, who isn’t?), but you’re also close enough to those traditional kafanas where the locals eat. You know, the ones that don’t have English menus and serve the kind of grilled meat that makes you question every barbecue you’ve ever had. The staff actually knows which ones to recommend, which tells you they’re not just checking tourists into rooms and calling it a day. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of Zemun – the streets are narrow and definitely weren’t designed for modern cars – but they’ve sorted that out too. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, none of that “let me tell you about seventeen amenities you’ll never use” routine. The 9.7 rating makes sense when you stay here; it’s not perfect (what place is?), but the things they do well, they do really well. It’s the kind of spot where you end up extending your stay because you realize you’ve found that sweet spot between authentic local experience and actual comfort.
