When you first walk into this 21st-floor apartment on Vojvode Stepe, the view hits you immediately. I mean, you’re looking out over practically all of Voždovac and beyond, which is especially stunning around sunset when the whole city starts lighting up. The apartment itself feels more like staying at a design-conscious friend’s place than a typical hotel room. Everything’s thoughtfully arranged – the double room setup actually gives you space to spread out, and the kitchen area (yeah, there’s a proper little kitchen) means you can grab groceries from the Maxi market downstairs instead of eating out every meal.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays up there, even though you’re right in the heart of things. Vojvode Stepe can get pretty busy during the day with all the shops and cafes, but once you’re on the 21st floor, it’s this peaceful bubble above the city noise. The building itself is one of those newer high-rises that actually works well – reliable elevators, good security, and the kind of lobby that doesn’t make you feel awkward walking through in your tourist clothes. Parking was way easier than I expected too, which anyone who’s driven around Belgrade will tell you is not a given. The host was genuinely helpful with local recommendations, pointing me toward this great bakery on Bulevar Oslobođenja that I never would’ve found otherwise, and suggesting the best times to visit Kalemegdan without fighting through crowds.
Here’s the thing though – staying here actually made me explore Voždovac more than I planned, and I’m glad it did. You’re close enough to walk to some really good local spots (there’s this excellent ćevapi place about ten minutes away that locals actually go to), but you can also hop on public transport pretty easily to reach the old town or Skadarlija. The apartment stays cool in summer without cranking the AC constantly, and honestly, after a day of wandering around Belgrade’s hills, sinking into that comfortable bed while looking out at the city lights was exactly what I needed. If you’re the type who likes having your own space but still wants that hotel-level cleanliness and service, this place gets the balance right.
