The building itself has this understated elegance that feels authentically Serbian rather than trying too hard to impress tourists, you know? And the location – well, Zvezdara isn’t where most visitors end up, but that’s actually what makes it interesting. You’re in a real Belgrade neighborhood where people actually live and work, not some sanitized tourist bubble.

The first thing that struck me was how quiet it gets at night, which is saying something for Belgrade. I mean, you can still hear the city humming in the distance, but there’s none of that relentless traffic noise you get closer to the center. The staff genuinely seemed to care about making things work – not in that over-the-top hospitality way that feels fake, but more like they actually wanted you to have a good experience. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, and they had solid recommendations for getting around (the public transport connections are actually better than you’d think from this part of Zvezdara). What really won me over was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The Wi-Fi worked consistently – I know that sounds basic, but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong. The rooms have this lived-in comfort without feeling worn down, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your stuff properly.

Here’s what I didn’t expect: the area comes alive in the mornings in this really authentic way. There’s a market nearby where locals do their shopping, and you’ll catch the smell of fresh bread drifting through the streets. It’s maybe a 15-minute walk to some decent cafes, and if you’re up for exploring, the whole Zvezdara district has this character that feels less polished but more genuine than the tourist-heavy parts of Belgrade. The 9.8 rating started making sense after a couple days – it’s not trying to be a luxury hotel, but it does everything it promises really well. Parking was straightforward (which is honestly half the battle in Belgrade), and the building stays pretty quiet even when it’s full. I’d definitely come back, actually – sometimes you find places that just work without any drama, and Thomas Residence is one of those spots.
