Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Belgrade, and honestly? The Tašmajdan Central Apartment completely caught me off guard in the best way possible. You walk up to this building on 27. marta street – which, by the way, most locals just call “Dvadeset sedma” – and from the outside it’s pretty unassuming. But step inside and you realize you’ve stumbled onto something special. The apartment itself feels like someone actually lives there, you know? Not that sterile hotel vibe where everything’s bolted down and smells like industrial cleaning products. This place has character, with those high ceilings you find in older Belgrade buildings and windows that actually let in proper light.
What really got me was the location – I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Tašmajdan Park, where half the city goes jogging in the mornings and old men play chess until it gets dark. The neighborhood has this perfect mix of residential calm and urban energy. There’s a pekara (bakery) right around the corner that opens crazy early, so you can grab fresh burek for breakfast without trekking across town. And here’s something most tourists miss – you’re actually walking distance to both the city center and some of Belgrade’s best kafanas, but far enough from Skadarlija that you won’t hear drunk tourists singing folk songs at 3 AM. The tram stop is maybe two blocks away, which honestly beats dealing with Belgrade’s parking situation any day of the week.
The apartment itself runs like clockwork – check-in was smooth, everything worked (and I mean everything, which isn’t always a given in this city), and the Wi-Fi didn’t cut out every time someone used the microwave. You can tell someone actually cares about this place instead of just trying to squeeze maximum profit out of minimum effort. The 9.7 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just really, really good at being what it is. The only tiny thing I’d mention is that Belgrade apartments can get warm in summer, but there’s AC and the cross-breeze situation is actually pretty decent if you know how to work the windows. I ended up extending my stay an extra two nights because, well, why mess with a good thing? If you’re looking for somewhere that feels like a proper Belgrade experience without the hostel chaos or the business hotel blandness, this is your spot.
