RubiCon Apartments

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to RubiCon Apartments on Đorđa Andrejević-Kun street – it’s tucked away in this residential part of Voždovac that feels more like where locals actually live than touristy Belgrade. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it special.

The building itself has that clean, modern apartment feel that’s become pretty popular in Belgrade over the last few years. What really got me though was how quiet it was at night – I mean, you’re still in the city, so there’s the occasional car or tram in the distance, but nothing like the constant buzz you get staying closer to Knez Mihailova or the old town. The apartments are properly spacious too, not like those cramped hotel rooms where you’re bumping into furniture every time you turn around. Each unit feels like an actual place someone could live, with a proper kitchen (and I actually used it – there’s a decent Maxi market just a few blocks down if you want to grab groceries). The Wi-Fi was solid throughout my stay, which honestly saved me since I had some work calls to handle.

Here’s the thing about staying in Voždovac that most tourists don’t realize – you’re actually positioned really well for getting around Belgrade without dealing with all the crowds. There’s a bus stop practically outside your door, and you can get to Republic Square in maybe 20 minutes on a good day. Plus, if you’re the type who likes morning walks, Banjica Forest is close enough that you could actually make it part of your routine. The local bakery around the corner (I think it’s called Pekara Sunce, but don’t quote me on that) makes these amazing burek portions that’ll keep you full until dinner. What surprised me most was how the neighborhood comes alive in the evenings – not with tourist stuff, but with families out walking, kids playing in the small parks, that sort of authentic Belgrade life you miss when you’re staying in the center. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that awkward hovering around a hotel lobby, just quick key exchange and you’re sorted. I’d definitely come back here, especially if I was planning a longer stay or traveling with people who appreciate having some space to spread out. The 9.1 rating makes sense once you spend a few days here – it’s one of those places that just works without trying too hard.
