Ramonda – New Belgrade

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Belgrade over the years, and Ramonda honestly caught me off guard – in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on the first floor of a building right on Mihajla Pupina Boulevard, which I know sounds like it might be noisy, but here’s the thing: the way they’ve set up the apartment, you barely hear the street buzz. Actually, being on Pupina is pretty brilliant because you’re literally a five-minute walk from those big shopping centers if you need anything, but more importantly, you can catch a bus or taxi anywhere in the city without thinking twice about it.

The space itself feels like staying at a friend’s place – if your friend happened to have really good taste and actually cared about comfort. I mean, it’s technically in Zemun, but you know how that area has transformed, right? It’s got this perfect mix of residential calm but with all the perks of being connected to New Belgrade. The apartment has this lived-in elegance that you don’t usually find in hotels – real coffee cups instead of those tiny porcelain things, a couch you’d actually want to sink into after walking around Kalemegdan all day, and honestly, the bathroom setup is better than most four-star places I’ve tried in the city center.

What really got me was the attention to small stuff that matters when you’re traveling. There’s proper blackout curtains (trust me, summer mornings in Belgrade are bright), the Wi-Fi actually works consistently – I was doing video calls without issues – and they’ve got this little coffee setup that uses decent beans, not that instant nonsense. The host clearly knows what travelers need because there’s local info that’s actually useful, not just generic tourist pamphlets. They pointed me toward this bakery around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise, and well, let’s just say I went back three mornings in a row. Parking was straightforward too, which if you’ve ever tried to park in downtown Belgrade, you’ll appreciate why that matters.

I stayed there during one of those crazy hot weeks in July, and the AC kept up perfectly – no struggling with some ancient unit that sounds like a helicopter. The whole place just works, you know? It’s got that 9.6 rating for good reason. You’re getting hotel-level cleanliness and service but in a space that feels authentic to the city. Plus, being in Zemun means you can walk down to the Danube when you want a break from the urban intensity, but you’re still close enough to hit Skadarlija or the fortress without planning your whole day around transportation. It’s one of those places where you end up staying longer than planned – not because you have to, but because you actually want to.
