Ramonda – Belgrade Waterfront

Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first walked into Ramonda on Hercegovačka Street – you know how Belgrade Waterfront can feel a bit too shiny and new sometimes? But this place actually gets it right. The moment you step inside, there’s this perfect balance between modern comfort and something that feels genuinely Serbian, not like they’re trying too hard to impress tourists.

The location is what really sold me though. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Sava promenade, which means you can grab your morning coffee and watch the river wake up before the crowds arrive. And here’s something most people don’t realize – being on Hercegovačka puts you close enough to walk to Skadarlija for dinner (about 15 minutes if you cut through Kalemegdan), but far enough from the main tourist chaos that you’ll actually sleep well at night. The trams run right nearby too, so getting to Knez Mihailova or Republic Square is dead simple.

What I really appreciate is how they handle the details. The rooms are spacious – I mean genuinely spacious, not hotel-brochure spacious – and the beds are properly comfortable, which isn’t always a given in Belgrade hotels. The bathrooms have that rainfall shower situation that actually works (you’d be surprised how often hotels mess this up). There’s decent soundproofing too, which matters because Serbian cities can get lively, especially on weekends. The breakfast spread is solid without being overwhelming – proper Serbian cheese and kajmak alongside the usual continental stuff, plus they make a decent espresso. Check-in was smooth, and the staff speak excellent English if your Serbian is rusty, though they clearly appreciate it when you try a few words.

The whole Belgrade Waterfront area has this interesting energy – it’s still finding its personality, but Ramonda feels like it’s already figured out what it wants to be. You’re close to some great restaurants (definitely try Manufaktura if you want modern Serbian cuisine), and the riverfront itself is perfect for evening walks when the city lights reflect off the water. That 9.7 rating isn’t just numbers – you can feel why people love staying here. It’s one of those places where everything just works without feeling sterile or corporate.
