Radisson Collection Hotel, Old Mill Belgrade

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Radisson Collection on Vojvode Misica Boulevard – I mean, it’s tucked into this sort of industrial-meets-residential stretch of Savski Venac that doesn’t exactly scream “luxury hotel.” But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you, and this one definitely did.

The whole “Old Mill” thing in the name actually makes sense once you’re inside – they’ve done this really thoughtful renovation of what was apparently a historic mill building, and you can feel that history in the lobby’s exposed brick and these massive wooden beams overhead. The staff at check-in were genuinely warm (not that practiced hotel smile thing), and the woman helping me actually gave me better directions to Kalemegdan Park than my GPS did. She told me to walk along the river path instead of taking the main road – totally worth it for the views, by the way. The rooms are what you’d expect from a 4-star place, but with some nice Serbian touches that feel authentic rather than forced. My room faced the Sava River, and I could actually see people jogging along the waterfront in the early mornings. The beds are properly comfortable – I’m picky about mattresses, and this one passed the test after three nights.

What really won me over, though, was how the hotel sits in relation to everything else. You’re literally a ten-minute walk from Brankov Bridge, which means you can easily get to the old town without dealing with Belgrade’s somewhat chaotic traffic situation. There’s this excellent bakery called Hleb & Kifle just two blocks down that locals actually go to (you’ll know because there’s always a line of people speaking Serbian, not tourists taking photos). The hotel restaurant is decent enough, but honestly, you’re in Belgrade – get out and eat some proper ćevapi somewhere. The front desk folks will point you toward places that aren’t tourist traps if you ask nicely. Parking can be a bit tricky since this area gets busy during the day with people working in the nearby offices, but the hotel has its own garage, which is worth the extra cost if you’re driving. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, so don’t expect a lot of nightlife right outside your door – though that also means you’ll actually get some sleep. For getting around, you’re close enough to the city center that taxis are cheap, and there’s a decent bus connection if you’re trying to save money. I’d definitely stay here again, especially since that 9.2 rating isn’t just hype – it’s a solid place that gets the basics right while giving you a real sense of being in Belgrade, not just any generic European city.
