Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Belgrade, but this penthouse on Pjarona De Mondezira just hits different. First thing you notice when you walk in – and I mean this literally took my breath away – is how the light floods through these massive windows. The apartment sits high enough that you’re looking out over the red tile roofs of Stari Grad, and honestly, it’s the kind of view that makes you grab your coffee and just stand there for a solid ten minutes every morning.

The thing about this location is that you’re smack in the heart of old Belgrade, but somehow it doesn’t feel touristy or overwhelming. Pjarona De Mondezira is one of those streets that locals actually use – I’d watch people heading to work in the morning, kids walking to school, that sort of real neighborhood rhythm. You’re maybe a five-minute walk from Skadarlija (the cobblestone bohemian quarter everyone talks about), but you know what? You’re also thirty seconds from this little bakery that does these incredible burek pastries. The owner, this older Serbian guy, he’ll nod at you after the second day like you belong there.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel – I mean that in the best way possible. Everything’s been thought through without being precious about it. The kitchen actually has proper knives and real plates, not the flimsy stuff you usually get. The bathroom has this rainfall shower that, well, let’s just say I took longer showers than I probably should have. And the bed – look, I’m picky about mattresses, but this one’s firm without being brutal, which is exactly what you want after walking Belgrade’s hills all day. The whole place stays surprisingly quiet too, even though you’re in the center of everything. Maybe it’s the way the building’s positioned, or just good windows, but I slept better here than I have in most countryside hotels.

What really sold me though was the little details that show someone actually cares about this place. There’s a proper iron (not some tiny travel thing), the WiFi doesn’t cut out every twenty minutes, and they left me a bottle of local wine with a handwritten note about the vineyard. Not fancy, just thoughtful. The check-in was smooth – no awkward key exchanges or confusing directions, just clear communication and everything worked exactly as promised.

I stayed here in late spring when Belgrade gets that perfect warm-but-not-sweltering weather, and I’d sit on the little balcony in the evenings with a glass of wine, listening to the church bells and watching the sunset paint everything golden. It’s the kind of place that makes you understand why people fall in love with this city. The 9.6 rating makes complete sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in Belgrade, it’s just doing everything right in a way that makes you want to come back.
