Natalie’s Royal M
You know what really struck me about Natalie's Royal M?
You know what really struck me about Natalie’s Royal M? It’s one of those places that completely defies your expectations based on the address alone. I mean, when you see “backyard building” in the description, you’re probably thinking sketchy basement apartment, right? Well, honestly, I couldn’t have been more wrong.
The location is actually brilliant if you know Belgrade at all. Zeleni venac is this charming little area in Stari Grad where locals still hang out – you’re literally a two-minute walk from Knez Mihailova pedestrian zone, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos at all hours. The building itself has this old Belgrade character that I really love, and yes, it’s tucked back from the street, but that actually works in your favor because it’s incredibly quiet. I slept better there than I have in some five-star places downtown, if I’m being honest. The flat is on the first floor (that’s what we’d call the second floor in the US), and while there’s no elevator, it’s really not a big deal unless you’re hauling massive suitcases.
What really impressed me was how thoughtfully everything was set up inside. Natalie – and I’m pretty sure she’s the actual owner, not just the name on the sign – has clearly put effort into making this feel like a proper boutique experience rather than just another Airbnb conversion. The space feels genuinely designed, not thrown together with random furniture. The bathroom was spotless and had that rainfall showerhead that actually works (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case). I particularly loved the little touches like having proper coffee available, not just those awful instant packets, and the way the morning light comes through the windows. There’s something about the natural light in Belgrade that hits different, especially in the older buildings.
Here’s the thing about staying in Stari Grad – you’re walking distance from basically everything worth seeing, but you’re also in a real neighborhood where people actually live. I grabbed coffee most mornings at this tiny café around the corner where the owner remembered my order by day three. You can walk to the fortress, the bohemian quarter, all the main sights, but you can also just wander the side streets and stumble across little shops and restaurants that aren’t in any guidebook.
The 9.2 rating makes total sense to me after staying there. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. The check-in was smooth, communication was excellent, and everything worked exactly as advertised. I mean, sure, it’s not a grand hotel with a lobby and room service, but honestly? For the price point and the experience, I’d choose this over some generic chain hotel any day. If you’re the type of traveler who values character and authenticity over amenities you probably won’t use anyway, this place will definitely work for you. Plus, good luck finding anything this well-located and well-maintained at this price point anywhere else in the city center.

What could be improved: Nothing
Natalie’s apartment not only follows the model of airbnb or something similar – forget about it. This property is exclusively giving the experience to be in someone’s real home and offers all the services that make the wonderful stay experience come to life. The bathroom was huge and equipped and with a washing machine and the bedroom had more than enough storage. It’s a home away from home especially that I traveled with my 3 years old daughter. The owner was very accommodating, he came to fetch us up from the resort which was almost an hour away the city of Belgrade. He’s very patient answering queries as well as instructions for currency exchange, traditional restaurants to dine in, directions as well as the minimum prices for services around the city.
He was a big help for us assisting with our luggage and bringing us at the international bus station on a heavy rainy day.
Friendly host, good english, great place, clean, spacious, modern and well equiped, adding to my favourites. I would book again

What could be improved: Everything
Great host who picked us up from the airport late at night and told us about the city on the way in. Lovely large space in a super location. We were also able to store luggage. I just wish we could have stayed longer.
Fantastic, perfectly located apartment. 2 min walking to the main street and 10 min. from Kalemegdan park. Old building, with new stylish furniture. Public parking (paid), 300 m from the property. Very nice and helpful hosts. Definitely recommend.
The location is very good, quiet in the middle, the interior is newly renovated, fully equipped, the bus terminal, Republic Square Belgrade, museums, Mihailo Street are all nearby, the owner is very good, there is a shuttle service (20 euros). Make us feel at home during your stay
