It’s tucked away on Marsala Birjuzova – and I mean actually tucked away, not just marketing speak. The street itself is this quiet little residential stretch that most tourists never stumble across, but it’s literally a five-minute walk to Skadarlija (that’s the cobblestone bohemian quarter everyone raves about) and maybe eight minutes to Kalemegdan Park if you’re not dragging luggage.

The building has that solid, old Belgrade character – you’ll climb up to the first floor (which is actually what Americans would call the second floor, but you probably know that already). Natalie clearly put thought into the details here. The apartment feels like someone’s actual home, not a sterile rental property. I mean, there are books on the shelves, decent coffee in the kitchen, and the kind of little touches that make you feel settled rather than just passing through. The WiFi actually works well – I had video calls without issues, which honestly can’t be said for every place in Stari Grad. One thing though: if you’re a super light sleeper, bring earplugs. It’s quiet for the city center, but you’ll still get some street sounds in the morning when people are heading to work.

What really sets this place apart is the location knowledge you get access to. Natalie left recommendations that go way beyond the typical tourist spots – she pointed me toward this tiny bakery around the corner that opens at 6 AM and has the best burek you’ll find outside someone’s grandmother’s kitchen. The nearest tram stop is Studenski Trg, maybe a three-minute walk, which connects you to basically everywhere you’d want to go. Parking can be tricky in this neighborhood (it’s all street parking and locals know the good spots), but honestly, you won’t need a car much once you’re here. The whole Old Town is walkable, and when it’s not, public transport is cheap and reliable. I stayed here during shoulder season in October, and the apartment stayed comfortable without cranking the heat – good insulation, which matters more than you’d think in an old building. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you actually experience the place. It’s not trying to be a luxury hotel, but it nails what it is: a comfortable, thoughtfully prepared home base in one of Belgrade’s most authentic neighborhoods.
