When I first pulled up to Slobodana Đurića 21, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the exterior, but stepping inside? Completely different story. There’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about what travelers need, not just what looks good in photos.

What really won me over is how perfectly positioned this place is in Zemun – and I mean, if you know Belgrade at all, you know Zemun is where you want to be if you’re trying to avoid the chaos of the city center but still want easy access to everything. You’re literally a fifteen-minute ride to Republic Square, but here’s the thing nobody tells you: you can walk to the Danube waterfront in about five minutes. I spent way too many evenings just wandering down to the river after dinner, watching the sunset reflect off the water. The staff actually recommended this little coffee spot called Dvorište (just two blocks away) where locals hang out – not touristy at all, just good coffee and people-watching.

The rooms themselves are well… they’re what you’d expect from a solid 4-star, but with some thoughtful touches that make a difference. The beds are actually comfortable – I’m talking proper sleep, not that stiff hotel mattress nonsense. Air conditioning works without sounding like a jet engine, which honestly, during those Belgrade summers, is everything. Parking was easier than I expected too, though I’d recommend asking about it when you book because the street can get crowded. One small thing that bugged me? The shower pressure could be better, but it’s not a dealbreaker. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night – you’re on a residential street, so no drunk tourists stumbling around at 3 AM like you’d get in Skadarlija. The 8.6 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Belgrade, but it delivers on the basics really well and the location gives you that authentic neighborhood feel while keeping you connected to everything else. If you’re the type who wants to experience Belgrade like someone who actually lives there, rather than just hitting the main tourist spots, this is your spot.
