When I first pulled up to Mika’s Poolhouse, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect — the name had me picturing something casual, maybe even a bit basic. But you know what? This four-star gem completely surprised me. Tucked away on Žikice Jovanovića – Španca street in Belgrade, it’s got this intimate, almost boutique feel that immediately sets it apart from the typical hotel experience. The fact that there’s parking right on site was already a win in my book — anyone who’s tried to find a spot in Belgrade knows what a relief that is.
Here’s something I really appreciated about the location — you’re close enough to feel connected to Belgrade’s energy, but far enough out to actually get some peace and quiet. The area around Žikice Jovanovića – Španca has this residential charm that most tourists never get to experience. I mean, you’re not right in the thick of Skadarlija or Republic Square, but that’s actually what makes it special. You get to see how locals live, and honestly, the 9.5 location rating from recent guests makes total sense once you’re there.
My room had this clean, modern vibe without feeling sterile — there’s definitely thought put into the design here. The space felt more personal than your average hotel room, almost like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place. What really stood out was the attention to detail — everything from the lighting to the bathroom fixtures felt intentional. The poolhouse concept isn’t just a name either; there’s this relaxed, resort-like atmosphere that somehow works perfectly even though you’re in Serbia’s capital.
The restaurant situation here is interesting — it’s not your typical hotel dining setup, which I actually preferred. The food feels more authentic, less like generic hotel fare and more like something you’d find at a local spot that happens to be really good. I spent some time just hanging around the common areas, and there’s this easy-going vibe that makes you want to linger. The pool area (obviously) is the real highlight — it’s where that 9.9 rating starts to make sense, especially if you’re traveling as a couple.
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Belgrade, and Mika’s Poolhouse hits this sweet spot that’s hard to find. It’s polished enough to feel special, but relaxed enough that you’re not walking on eggshells. The fact that couples rate it so highly tells you something — this isn’t a place where you’re fighting crowds or dealing with noise from the street. You get that boutique hotel experience without the pretension, plus you’re getting incredible value for what you pay. When a place manages a 9.9 rating, there’s usually something real behind it, and after staying here, I get it.
