LDS Hotel Belgrade

So I spent three nights at LDS Hotel Belgrade last month, and honestly? I wasn’t expecting much from a hotel in Novi Beograd – I mean, let’s be real, most people think of this area as just concrete blocks and business districts. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible.

First thing you notice walking in is how they’ve managed to make a 4-star feel genuinely welcoming without trying too hard. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe that doesn’t scream “corporate hotel,” and the staff at check-in were ridiculously helpful – like, the kind of helpful where they actually remember your name the next day. The location on Trg prijateljstva Srbije i Kine sounds intimidating if you don’t speak Serbian, but it’s basically Friendship Square, and it’s actually perfect if you want to be close to the action without dealing with the chaos of old Belgrade. You’re maybe 15 minutes from Knez Mihailova by tram, but you can actually sleep at night because you’re not right in the thick of things.

What really got me was the attention to small stuff that most hotels totally ignore. The rooms are properly soundproofed – and I tested this because there’s construction happening nearby during the day, but once those windows are closed, you hear nothing. The beds are firm without being hard (you know how some European hotels think a brick is a mattress?), and they’ve got blackout curtains that actually work. The bathroom situation deserves a mention too – good water pressure, hot water that stays hot, and enough space to spread out your toiletries without everything falling into the sink. Plus there’s this little balcony in most rooms where you can have your morning coffee and watch the city wake up, which honestly became my favorite part of each day.

The breakfast spread was solid without being overwhelming – fresh pastries, local cheeses, decent coffee that doesn’t taste like water, and they even had some traditional Serbian options mixed in with the standard continental stuff. What I really appreciated was the restaurant staff who seemed to genuinely care whether you had what you needed, not just going through the motions. Parking is included, which is huge if you’re driving – Belgrade parking can be a nightmare, so having a secure spot takes away a lot of stress.

Look, it’s not the fanciest place you’ll ever stay, and if you’re expecting marble bathrooms and butler service, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a comfortable, well-run hotel where everything just works and the staff treats you like a person instead of a room number, LDS really delivers. The 8.8 rating makes sense when you stay there – it’s the kind of place that doesn’t promise the moon but consistently gives you exactly what you need, done well. I’d definitely book here again, especially since it’s such a good jumping-off point for exploring both sides of Belgrade without breaking the bank.
