You know what caught me off guard about Keti 1? I was expecting another generic business hotel when I pulled up to Miloša Bogićevića street, but this place actually has some character. It’s tucked away in Rakovica — which, honestly, most tourists probably couldn’t find on a map — but that’s sort of the point. You’re getting a slice of real Belgrade here, not the sanitized city center version.

The building itself feels solid, well-maintained without being flashy. I mean, it’s got that 4-star polish but doesn’t try too hard, if that makes sense. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward — none of that overly rehearsed welcome speech you get at chain hotels. The staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood, which came in handy when I needed directions to the nearest decent grocery store (there’s a solid one about ten minutes walk down toward the main road, by the way). My room was on the third floor, and honestly, the soundproofing impressed me. Rakovica isn’t exactly the quietest part of Belgrade, especially during morning rush hour, but I slept through it all.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to small details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The shower had proper water pressure — you’d be surprised how often that’s an issue in this part of the world. There’s enough desk space to actually spread out your laptop and papers, and the WiFi doesn’t mysteriously cut out every twenty minutes like some places I’ve stayed. The breakfast setup was honest comfort food, nothing fancy but done right. Local cheeses, proper bread, coffee that doesn’t taste like it came from a packet. I found myself chatting with a couple of Serbian business travelers who were regulars there — always a good sign when locals choose a place for work trips. They mentioned the hotel’s been family-run for years, which explains why it feels more personal than corporate. Parking was included and actually available (not always a given in Belgrade), and they helped arrange a taxi to Nikola Tesla Airport that didn’t try to overcharge me. Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, and you’re definitely not in the tourist bubble here, but if you want to experience Belgrade like someone who actually lives there, this works. The 8.5 rating feels about right — it’s doing the fundamentals really well without any major surprises, good or bad.
