You know what caught me off guard about Hotel LoRa? I honestly expected another generic business hotel when I first walked up to that address on Starca Vujadina – I mean, Zemun can be hit or miss with accommodations. But this place actually gets it right in ways that surprised me.

The location is pretty clever if you know Belgrade at all. You’re technically in Zemun, which feels like this separate little world across the Danube, but you’re not stuck out there – the city center is maybe 15 minutes away, and honestly, I found myself preferring the Zemun vibe anyway. There’s something about walking down to the old fortress area in the evening, or grabbing coffee at one of those riverside spots that locals actually frequent. The hotel sits on a quiet street, so you don’t get the traffic noise that plagues so many Belgrade hotels, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. Parking was straightforward too, which – let’s be real – is not something you can take for granted around here.

What really impressed me was how they handle the details. The rooms feel thoughtfully designed rather than just decorated, if that makes sense. Good lighting for actually reading, proper water pressure (trust me, this matters in Serbia), and they clearly invested in decent mattresses. The staff genuinely seems to know the area – when I asked about dinner recommendations, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a tourist brochure but actually described a couple places based on what I said I was looking for. That 9.6 rating starts making sense when you realize they’re sweating the small stuff. Check-in was smooth, no weird hidden fees, and the WiFi actually works consistently throughout the building.

I’ll be honest, the four-star rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be some luxury palace, but it’s doing everything it promises to do well. The common areas have this comfortable, lived-in quality without feeling worn down. You can tell they maintain things properly. What I appreciated most was that it felt like staying somewhere that locals might actually recommend to visiting friends, not just another place that exists purely for tourists passing through. If you’re planning to spend any real time exploring Belgrade and want a solid base that won’t eat your budget but also won’t leave you dealing with weird quirks and problems, this works really well.
