Honestly, I walked past Elixir three times before realizing this unassuming building on Kneginje Zorke was actually my hotel – and you know what, that’s part of its charm. It sits quietly in Vračar, which if you don’t know Belgrade well, is basically where locals actually want to live. None of the tourist chaos of Stari Grad, but you’re still close enough to walk to Kalemegdan when the mood strikes.

The thing about this place is that it feels deliberate in a way most hotels don’t. The lobby’s got this warm, almost residential vibe – like someone’s very stylish aunt decided to open a boutique hotel. The staff actually remembers your name after day one (I mean, it’s not huge, so maybe that’s easier, but still). My room faced the street, and yeah, there’s some traffic noise during morning rush hour, but honestly? It’s the gentle hum of a neighborhood waking up, not the honking madness you get closer to the city center. The bed was one of those where you sink in just enough without feeling swallowed, and the bathroom – well, let’s just say they didn’t cheap out on the fixtures.

What really got me was how they handle the little things. There’s this tiny café downstairs that serves proper Serbian coffee (not the watered-down hotel lobby stuff), and the guy running it knows exactly how every regular takes theirs. The neighborhood itself is fantastic for wandering – you’ve got Svetogorska street just a few blocks away with its mix of old Belgrade architecture and newer spots, plus you’re walking distance from Taš­maj­dan Park if you need some green space. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra night because, well, why rush back to reality when you’ve found a spot that just works? The 9.9 rating isn’t some algorithm gaming – this place genuinely gets the balance right between feeling special without trying too hard, comfortable without being bland, and local without being inaccessible to outsiders.
