So I stumbled across Dragonfly Residence completely by accident — honestly, I was just wandering around Stari Grad trying to find a decent coffee shop when I noticed this gorgeous old building on Carice Milice. You know what caught my eye first? The way they’ve restored the facade without making it look all shiny and fake like some places do. It’s on the third floor, which means you’re climbing some stairs (fair warning), but once you’re up there, the whole vibe just hits differently.

The thing about staying in Stari Grad is that you’re literally living inside Belgrade’s history, and Dragonfly gets that balance right between honoring the old architecture and actually being comfortable to stay in. I mean, the ceilings are these beautiful high ones you get in pre-war buildings, but they’ve managed to make the rooms feel cozy rather than cavernous. The floors have this lovely worn wood that creaks just enough to remind you where you are without being annoying at night. What really impressed me was the attention to small stuff — like, the bathroom fixtures are modern but they don’t clash with the vintage elements, and there’s actually decent water pressure (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given in these old buildings). The windows are properly sealed too, so you don’t get that drafty feeling that makes some historic places feel more like museums than hotels.

Location-wise, you’re maybe a five-minute walk from Skadarlija — you know, that cobblestone street everyone calls Belgrade’s Montmartre — but you’re tucked away enough that you won’t hear drunk tourists singing at 2 AM. I loved being able to walk to Kalemegdan Fortress in the morning before the crowds showed up, and there’s this little bakery around the corner on Zmaj Jovina that does these incredible burek pastries. The neighborhood has that perfect mix where you’ll see grandmothers hanging laundry from balconies right next to trendy little galleries and wine bars. Parking can be tricky if you’re driving — the streets are narrow and some are pedestrian-only during certain hours — but honestly, once you’re settled in here, you probably won’t need a car anyway. The whole point of staying in Stari Grad is walking everywhere and soaking up that old Belgrade atmosphere. I’d definitely come back, especially since the staff actually seems to care about what they’re doing rather than just going through the motions. That 9.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there.

İt was very clean. Generally, wifes take care of the cleaning. Then, it was so close central of city, esprcially you can reach mihailova and kalemegdan at 10 minutes with walking. There was a market next to the building which you can buy anything you need.

What could be improved: There was an old building so there was no lift at the apartment. Families with little children may have difficulty. Also, the dogs of the side neighbor was barking loudly when someone approached to the apartment.

Spacious, clean, perfect location, very helpful owner

What could be improved: Not much the owner can do about unfortunately, but the neighbour‘s dogs were barking a lot, which you could hear through the walls.

The apartment exceeded our expectations. My friends and I had a great time at this apartment, plenty of space for 4-5 people. Immaculately decorated with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Very central location, easy walking distance to the centre, public transport and all around Belgrade. 10/10, would highly recommend, especially for larger groups.

The building was in a very good location, 2 minutes from Kneza Mihaila street. The house was very clean and there was a complete set of towels, sheets, etc. We had a bit of difficulty adjusting the air conditioning, but there was also a heater in the house. She also took care of us to show us how to make the extra bed. After our trip was over, we asked for help from the owner again because our friend lost one of his headphones. She helped us find the headphones. We were very satisfied in every way.

What could be improved: The air conditioning was a bit old. I can say this as the only bad thing about the apartment. However, after adjusting the setting, they heat well.

Perfect location. Nice and sizable rooms suitable for one small group of people.

What could be improved: Parking is not free while the garage is just by the corner.

Amazing apartment, absolutely beautiful. Very comfortable beds, air conditioning in every room, extremely clean and beautifully decorated. Felt really homely. A little jewel tucked away and a 10 minute walk to main street, coffee shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again. Snezana the host is so great, little touches from her personally and felt really cared for by her. Thank you for looking after us so well.

What could be improved: 3 flights of stairs to get to the apartment, a bit difficult carrying luggage up but once you open the doors to the apartment all the tiredness just fades away.

The accommodation left nothing to be desired. Fully equipped with everything your heart desires and more. The location was also extremely good. Many things are within walking distance. The great old town, the artists' quarter, the Sava/Danube, the Kalemegdan citadel. The morbid charm of the city is something special.

What could be improved: There is nothing to complain about
