You know what caught me off guard about Cozy Stay Apartment? The moment I walked up to Topličin venac 29, I realized I was staying right in the heart of everything that matters in Belgrade – and I mean everything. This isn’t some generic “city center” location; you’re literally on one of those charming cobblestone streets that locals actually use as shortcuts between Knez Mihailova and the fortress area. The building itself has that solid, old-world feel (it’s on the first floor, which honestly saved my back after lugging a suitcase around the city), and when you step inside apartment number 9, it’s like someone took the concept of “cozy” seriously without making it feel cramped.

The space actually lives up to its 4-star rating, which – let’s be honest – can be hit or miss with apartment rentals. What I loved most was how thoughtfully it’s set up; whoever designed this place clearly understands what travelers need. The kitchen has everything you’d want if you decide to grab some fresh produce from the morning market at Zeleni venac (just a 5-minute walk down the hill), and there’s this perfect little nook by the window where you can drink your coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up. The Wi-Fi is solid – I had video calls without issues – and the shower pressure was surprisingly good for an older building. I mean, you’re in Stari Grad, so you’re not expecting modern plumbing miracles, but this place delivers. The street can get a bit lively on weekend evenings since you’re so close to the main pedestrian zone, but it’s the good kind of lively, not the “drunk tourists stumbling around” kind.

What really sells this place, though, is the location intelligence. You’re maybe 3 minutes from Skadarlija if you want that touristy Serbian restaurant experience, but you’re also close enough to slip into one of those tucked-away kafanas that don’t even have English menus. The fortress – Kalemegdan – is an easy uphill stroll, perfect for morning jogs or sunset walks. And here’s something I only figured out after a couple days: you’re positioned perfectly to avoid the main tourist crowds while still being able to join them whenever you want. That 8.5 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed here a few nights and realized how rare it is to find a place that’s genuinely comfortable, well-located, and reasonably priced in this part of Belgrade. Sure, it’s not luxury, but it’s that sweet spot where everything just works and you feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it.
