The apartment itself sits on this quiet residential street, so you get that local living vibe without the chaos of the main tourist drags. Though fair warning – it’s not exactly ground floor, so if you’re hauling massive suitcases, well, consider it your daily workout.

What really got me was how thoughtfully everything was set up inside. Budislav (and honestly, props to them for maintaining such a stellar 9.5 rating) clearly understands what travelers actually need. The WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, the shower has proper water pressure – you’d be amazed how rare that combo is – and there’s actual counter space in the kitchen for more than just setting down your keys. I spent a few evenings cooking with ingredients from the Zeleni Venac market, which is close enough that you can pop over without it being a whole expedition. The windows let in this gorgeous morning light, and if you lean out just right, you can catch glimpses of the Danube in the distance. Evenings were particularly lovely; the street gets this peaceful, almost sleepy quality once the day winds down, but you’re still close enough to hear the gentle hum of Belgrade’s nightlife if you want to venture out. The whole setup just felt… comfortable, I guess? Like staying at a well-organized friend’s place rather than some sterile hotel room where everything’s bolted down and wrapped in plastic.

Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places across the Balkans, and most of them either nail the location or the comfort, rarely both. This spot manages to hit that sweet balance where you feel plugged into actual Belgrade life – not some sanitized tourist version of it – while still having everything work properly. Plus, being in Stari Grad means you’re walking distance from Kalemegdan Park when you need some green space, and the fortress views are honestly worth the trip alone.
