But here’s the thing locals know: while Republic Square gets all the attention, you’re also perfectly positioned for the real Belgrade experience. The apartment itself feels surprisingly spacious for a city center location – I’ve stayed in places that felt cramped despite being twice the price, but this one actually lets you spread out and breathe.

The kitchen is properly equipped (not just a mini-fridge and a prayer), the Wi-Fi actually works when you need to upload those inevitable fortress photos, and – this might sound small but trust me – the shower has decent water pressure. I’ve learned not to take that for granted in historic city centers. The windows face onto Kolarčeva, which means you get some street life sounds, but it’s not the kind of noise that keeps you up at night. More like that gentle urban hum that reminds you you’re in the heart of a real city. Plus, if you’re planning to explore Belgrade’s legendary nightlife, you’ll appreciate being able to walk home instead of hunting for taxis at 3 AM. The whole Stari Grad area comes alive after dark, but during the day it has this wonderful lived-in quality – you’ll see locals doing their shopping, kids heading to school, that sort of authentic neighborhood rhythm you just can’t fake.
