Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Apartments Legacy on Kosovska Street – the building looks pretty unassuming from the outside, just another solid Belgrade structure in Stari Grad. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t need to show off from the street.

The location is actually brilliant once you get your bearings. You’re right in the heart of old Belgrade, which means you can walk to Skadarlija (that’s the bohemian quarter with all the traditional restaurants) in about ten minutes, and Kalemegdan Park is maybe fifteen minutes if you take your time. The thing about being on Kosovska is that it’s residential enough to be quiet at night – I mean, you’ll still hear the occasional late-night conversation drifting up from the street because, well, this is Belgrade – but it’s not like staying right on one of the main drags where trams are clanking by at 6 AM. The apartments themselves really surprised me. These aren’t your typical cramped hotel rooms, and the 4-star rating actually feels earned here, not inflated. Everything’s been renovated thoughtfully – the kitchens are properly equipped (not just a mini-fridge and a prayer), and the bathrooms have that satisfying weight to the fixtures that tells you someone cared about the details. I particularly liked that the windows are solid; Belgrade can get pretty lively, especially during summer evenings when everyone’s out and about, but inside you can actually get some sleep.

What really sold me on the place, though, was how the staff handled things. Check-in was smooth – no weird holds on my credit card or confusing key card situations – and when I asked about where to grab coffee in the morning, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward some tourist trap. He sent me to this little place around the corner where locals actually go, which is how you know you’re dealing with people who get it. The 9-point rating makes total sense when you think about it – this isn’t trying to be some flashy luxury experience, but everything works the way it should, and honestly, that’s rarer than you’d think. If you’re planning to stay here, just know that parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of Stari Grad (like most of old Belgrade), but there are spots if you’re patient, or you can ditch the car entirely and just walk everywhere – which is really the best way to experience this part of the city anyway.
